RideKC route changes coming in May

Changes are coming May 1, 2022, to the following routes. Routes may be combining with other routes: 23 23rd Street, 25 Troost, 77 Casino Cruiser, 201 North Oak, 229 Boardwalk-KCI, 238 Meadowbrook, 298 North Kansas City Flex, 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex. 

These suspended routes will be consolidated with other service. Look for replacement options below: 10 Woodland-Brooklyn, 15 Truman Road, 16 Truman Road Limited, 51 Ward Parkway, 52 Ward Parkway Limited, 55 Universities-Crossroads, 234 Boardwalk-Antioch, 235 Winnwood-Gracemor, 236 East Gladstone, and 237 West Gladstone.

Sunday, May1: The Regional Call Center will be open at 816-221-0660 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help customers plan trips. 
 

Also, a separate effort to improve Johnson County routes will implement in phases throughout 2022.

Route-by-route information 

These changes will take effect Sunday, May 1:

10 Woodland-Brooklyn
The 10 Woodland-Brooklyn will no longer offer service. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Much of the former 10 Woodland-Brooklyn route is within ¼-mile of other frequent routes, such as the Prospect MAX and 12 12th Street. See summary for Prospect MAX, 12 12th Street, and 18 Indiana.

15 Truman Road
15 Truman Road will no longer offer service. This route has been suspended during most of the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Service on Truman Road west of Jackson will be provided by a modified 23 23rd Street; service on Truman between Prospect and Troost is available on 71 Prospect. Additionally, frequent service will be provided nearby, on 12th Street.

16 Truman Road Limited
Service on Truman Road within Kansas City will be provided by a modified 23 23rd Street and 71 Prospect. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Service on the 16 Truman Road Limited to Independence has been discontinued at the direction of the City of Independence. See summary for 12 12th Street, 23 23rd Street and 71 Prospect.

23 23rd Street
New Schedules: 
Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
15 Truman Rd. and 23 23rd Street will be consolidated into a revised route 23 23rd Street. The revised route will travel between 12th & Wyandotte and Park Tower Road just north of 23rd Street. The route will use the former15 route from 12th & Wyandotte to Truman & Jackson, then on Jackson between Truman & 23rd Street, then use the existing 23 route to Park Tower Road. The route will no longer serve 23rd and 22nd Street west of Jackson, Pershing, and Southwest Blvd. Hourly service will be provided from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

25 Troost
New Schedules: 
Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
25 Troost will end at East Village Transit Center (instead of Barney Allis Plaza) for transfer connections to the rest of the region. Local stops will be served on Troost. 

51 Ward Parkway and 52 Ward Parkway Limited
Peak-hour routes 51 and 52 will no longer offer service. These routes have been suspended during all or most of the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Some portions of these routes will be served by other routes. Ward Parkway Center, Burns & McDonnell, and Watts Mill Plaza will be served daily by portions of the combined Main MAX/57 Wornall; Ward Parkway Center is also served by 85 Paseo. Aspiria Campus and Rosana Square will be served by 401 Metcalf-Plaza via the Plaza and 404 Metcalf-Downtown via Downtown KCMO.

55 Universities-Crossroads
55 will be discontinued. This route has been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. On some portions of the route, service will be provided via other routes such as 47 47th Street. 47 will continue to offer service to 47th Street/Plaza. Service to UMKC and Rockhurst will continue to be provided on Main MAX and Troost MAX.

77 Casino Cruiser (210 Front Street)
New Schedules: Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
The 77 Casino Cruiser will be modified to serve jobs near Front Street to I-435 and further east along MO-210 highway north of the Missouri River, replacing a portion of 11 Northeast-Westside that travels to Universal Ave. & Front Street. The route name will change to 210 Front Street to reflect the focus on Front Street and MO-210 instead of casinos. Key route changes include:

  • Worlds of Fun will be served on all trips.
  • Parvin Road will be covered by 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex.
  • Harrah’s in North Kansas City will be covered by 298 NKC Flex.
  • Segments of Chouteau Trafficway will no longer be served, and the route will access the Northland via I-435 from Front Street to MO-210.
  • The stop for Ameristar will be on MO-210 rather than within the Ameristar parking lot.
  • Bally’s KC (formerly Isle of Capri) will still be served via Front Street.
  • Hourly service will be provided from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

201 North Oak
Revised April 29
Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
The 201 North Oak will continue to travel to the Crown Center area, and will add service to East Village Transit Center as previously planned. Hourly service will be provided from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, with additional weekday service every 30 minutes between 5 to 8:30 a.m., and 3 and 6:30 p.m.

210 Front Street
New Schedules: 
Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
The 77 Casino Cruiser becomes 210 Front Street to reflect alignment changes that will improve access to jobs along Front Street in the East Bottoms and MO-210 in the Northland. See the 77 Casino Cruiser summary.

229 KCI-Boardwalk 
New Schedules: Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
The 229 KCI-Boardwalk was modified in 2021 to provide service to the construction site of the new KCI terminal. The route will continue to serve terminals B and C. Hourly service will be provided from 5 a.m. to midnight every day. The route will be revised in Spring 2023 when the new terminal is expected to open.

231 Riverside-Antioch
231 Riverside-Antioch will be discontinued. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Portions of the route on Prairie View Road are served by the daily 229 KCI-Boardwalk. Service at Antioch Crossing Park & Ride is provided by the daily 238 Meadowbrook. 233 Vivion-Antioch
233 Vivion-Antioch will be consolidated with 238 Meadowbrook. 238 Meadowbrook will provide direct service between Antioch Crossing Park & Ride and Downtown currently provided by the 233. However, 238 will travel on a different route north of Armour Rd. Rather than providing service on Antioch and Prather, the route will travel on portions of Vivion, Highland, Parvin, as well as through North Kansas City Hospital on Clay Edwards Drive. Hourly service will be provided on 238 from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. See summary for 229 KCI-Boardwalk and 238 Meadowbrook.

234 Boardwalk-Antioch
234 Boardwalk-Antioch will be discontinued. Portions of the route north of Boardwalk Square will be covered by 229 KCI-Boardwalk. Service at Antioch Crossing Park & Ride is provided by the 238 Meadowbrook. This route has been suspended during all or most of the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. 235 Winnwood-Gracemor
235 Winnwood-Gracemor will be consolidated with service offered on an expanded 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex. 299 will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, offering a much greater level of access than the limited service on route 235. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. See 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex for details.

236 East Gladstone
236 East Gladstone will be consolidated with service offered on an expanded 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex. The 299 Flex route will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering a much greater level of access than the limited service on route 236. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. See 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex for details.

237 West Gladstone
237 West Gladstone will be consolidated due to the nearby availability of 201 North Oak and the expanded 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex. This route has been suspended during the last two years of COVID-19 pandemic. See summary for 201 North Oak and 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex.

238 Meadowbrook 
New Schedules: Weekday - Saturday - Sunday - Map
238 Meadowbrook will be consolidated with 233 Vivion-Antioch, and the route will change to provide some service to 233 riders between Antioch Crossing Park & Ride and Armour Road. The route will remain the same north of Antioch Crossing Park & Ride, including service to MCC Maple Woods. The revised route will no longer serve portions of North Oak north of Armour, 42nd Street, North Holmes, and 44th Street in favor of serving NKC Hospital. Hourly service will be provided from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

298 North Kansas City Flex: Schedule - Map 
The 298 North Kansas City Flex, funded by the City of North Kansas City, will change service hours to 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily to provide more consistent service. Mobile booking and vehicle tracking is already offered through the RideKC Flex app. The zone will continue to cover the entire boundary of North Kansas City, including North Kansas City Hospital and Harrah’s Casino.

299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex: Schedule - Map 
The 299 Gladstone-Antioch Flex zone is being expanded to provide greater coverage and service hours in the areas of the Northland with formerly operated fixed routes that had very limited service, such as the 235 Winwood-Gracemor and the 236 East Gladstone. The expanded zone will extend east to include the Gracemor neighborhood, and south to the North Kansas City boundary, and Chouteau and Parvin Road within KCMO. Connect to 238 Meadowbrook at Antioch Crossing Park & Ride for trips to downtown Kansas City. The 299 Flex route will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, an increase from the current weekday-only service. Additionally, the RideKC Flex app offers mobile booking and vehicle tracking.
