MAX (BRT)

MAX Transit

Ride Faster with MAX

Optimized For Speed

MAX is RideKC’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, designed to move riders through Kansas City’s busiest corridors with faster trips, frequent service, and enhanced stations. MAX combines the convenience of local transit with features typically associated with rail-style service. Prospect MAX became RideKC’s third MAX corridor when service launched in 2019, connecting Downtown Kansas City to the 75th & Prospect Transit Center.

What Makes MAX Different?

Next Level Transit

MAX is built to improve speed, reliability, accessibility, and the overall rider experience through upgraded vehicles, smarter stations, and improved transit operations.

Frequent Service

MAX routes are designed for high-frequency travel throughout the day, helping reduce wait times and making transit more convenient for everyday riders.

Faster Trips

Fewer stops, traffic signal priority, and improved boarding areas help MAX buses move more efficiently through the corridor.

Enhanced Stations

MAX stations feature larger shelters, real-time arrival information, enhanced lighting, and modern rider amenities designed to create a safer and more comfortable experience.

Level Boarding & Accessibility

Several MAX stations include level boarding platforms that make entering and exiting the bus easier for all riders, including people using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers.

Smart Technology

Select MAX stations include touchscreen kiosks, free Wi-Fi, and real-time transit information to help riders stay connected and informed.

MAX Corridors

Broad Coverage

Prospect MAX

Prospect MAX connects Downtown Kansas City to neighborhoods, businesses, healthcare destinations, and community resources along the Prospect corridor. The 10-mile line represents one of the region’s largest transit investments and was designed to improve mobility, safety, and economic opportunity along the corridor.

Troost MAX

Troost MAX provides frequent north-south service through Midtown and South Kansas City, connecting riders to jobs, schools, healthcare, and regional transit connections.

More Than Transit

Longterm Vision

MAX is more than a bus route. It is part of RideKC’s long-term investment in stronger regional mobility, improved accessibility, safer streets, and better connections between people and opportunity throughout Kansas City.
