The following is a news release issued by KC Streetcar, Port KC and KCATA.
(Kansas City - Dec. 1, 2022) The public is invited to attend a joint meeting about the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension and the Grand Boulevard Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge projects.
WHAT: The Kansas City Streetcar Authority (KCSA), the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), Port KC and the City of Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) are hosting a special joint public meeting for the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension and Grand Boulevard Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge projects.
WHEN: Thursday, December 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: The Port KC Headquarters Community Room located at 110 Berkley Plaza on Kansas City’s Riverfront.
WHY: The KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension is 100% designed, and the Grand Boulevard Bike & Pedestrian Bridge is 90% designed with construction expected to begin on both projects in 2023.
The meeting will be an open house format. Project partners will share the proposed design to extend the existing KC Streetcar Downtown line north to Berkley Riverfront and the proposed design for the Grand Boulevard Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge.
“We are reconnecting our City and our Missouri Riverfront for the next generation,” said Tom Gerend, Executive Director of the KCSA. “Improved bicycle, pedestrian, and transit access will not only solve long-standing connectivity and safety challenges but will support and spur new and exciting opportunities like the KC Current Stadium,” continued Gerend.
