RideKC Ready for 2021 Big 12 Tournament Fans

Date:March 08, 2021

The Big 12 Basketball Championship comes to Kansas City March 10-14, and RideKC’s Main MAX and other buses offer a fast and free no-parking option to get fans to the games.

There are some changes to RideKC service this year that riders should be aware of:

-Buses are now zero-fare. That means fans don’t have to worry about exact change or multi-day tickets.

-Download RideKC’s Transit app for trip planning and real-time tracking of your bus. The Transit app shows how crowded the buses are. Transit is available in the Google Play and Apple App stores.

-RideKC has increased COVID-19 safety precautions including boarding at the back of the bus and socially distanced seating. Face masks are required on buses and at bus stops.

-Printed schedules are no longer available on buses. Customers can print schedules at our website or easily check schedules in the Transit app.

The Men’s Championship will be held March 10-13 at T-Mobile Center. The Women’s Championship will be held March 11-14 at Municipal Auditorium.

Main MAX to T-Mobile Center: Northbound buses from Crown Center, Westport, The Plaza, and Waldo will stop at the 12th & Grand. Southbound buses from 3rd & Grand will stop at the 11th & Grand stop. The Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship will be held at T-Mobile Center, 1407 Grand. During the weekdays and Saturday, buses travel every 15 minutes between the Plaza and downtown, and every 30 minutes between Waldo and downtown. On evenings and Sundays, buses travel every 30 minutes between downtown, the Plaza, and Waldo.

RideKC to Municipal Auditorium: Several routes travel along 12th and 11th Streets to get close to Municipal Auditorium at 301 E. 13th Street.

Due to the closure of Grand at T-Mobile Center during the games, several bus routes will detour to Oak, including Main MAX. Details of the detours and all COVID-19 precautions are available on the RideKC website, at RideKC.org.
