Connecting People to Places and Opportunities:  New East-West Connector Route Starts July 2nd

(Kansas City, Mo., June 30, 2023) – The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new route that will connect locals and visitors to some of Kansas City’s top attractions for free. Starting Sunday, July 2, RideKC will begin the new 18X East-West connector from Southwest Boulevard to the Crossroads and 18th & Vine Districts.

The new, route will offer service every 30 minutes from 2-10 p.m. seven days a week. Both locals and visitors can use the public transportation to enjoy a variety of restaurants, including BBQ and Mexican favorites, and get to beloved destinations such as the historical American Jazz and Negro Leagues Baseball Museums, and several breweries.

“We are extremely excited about this new route connecting convenience and culture,” said Frank White III, CEO of KCATA. “Thanks to public transportation, RideKC allows people to experience iconic places Kansas City is known for, as well as connect to other routes all at no cost.”

Connects to:

  • Troost MAX (TMAX) at 18th St.
  • Main Street MAX (MMAX) at Grand Ave.
  • Prospect MAX (PMAX) at 12th St.
  • KC Streetcar (19th and Main location) off the 18th and Walnut bus stop

  • American Jazz Museum
  • Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque
  • Local breweries like Alma Mader, City Barrel, and Boulevard
  • Gates Bar-B-Q
  • Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
  • Mexican restaurants along Southwest Boulevard
