August Service Changes

Date:June 25, 2020
Effective:Aug 02, 2020

Routes move to 12th and Charlotte; 10th and Main closes
Weekday schedules restored to some routes

In line with RideKC’s Service Restoration Plan, regular weekday service will be restored on select routes effective Aug. 2, 2020. This expanded service is based on a detailed review of current ridership patterns, the need to maintain social distancing practices on routes that have seen crowding at certain times, and restoring access to essential jobs and services in areas with no other coverage.

Effective Sunday, Aug. 2, selected routes will have regular weekday service restored. These routes will resume operating the regular Weekday, Saturday, and Sunday schedules that existed prior to the COVID-related service reductions that took place on April 12. Several additional routes will maintain existing service, with Saturday schedules operating on weekdays, but with added trips in the early morning. Some routes may have changes to times.  Several routes travel to East Village Transit Center at 12th and Charlotte. 10th and Main Transit Center will close to transit on Aug. 2.

Phase 3 of the service restoration plan is projected to occur in late 2020 or early 2021 and will fully restore service on additional key routes. This will further improve access to jobs and services in medical care, grocery and food service, education and other essential services. Phase 4, projected for April 2021, will implement changes and enhancements proposed under the RideKC Next plan, which began development in 2019.

Visit our COVID-19 Update page for updates about the impact of COVID on RideKC service.

  • Currently, fares are suspended on all RideKC buses and riders are boarding at the back doors to minimize contact for customers and bus operators. Fares and front-door boarding could be reinstated in the coming months. RideKC will provide 30 days notice for customers to purchase fares.
  • RideKC stongly recommends riders wear face coverings while riding buses. Face coverings are required on Unified Government Transit buses.
