Beginning July 6, Unified Government Transit’s 199 Micro Transit will add Merriam Town Center as eligible destination, adding another vital connection between two of Kansas’ most populous counties.This is a cooperative effort between Wyandotte and Johnson Counties to provide access to affordable, convenient public transportation. A robust, affordable and reliable public transportation system is crucial to the viability and overall health of our region. Thanks to the expansion, Shawnee Plaza in Turner is also eligible Micro Transit destination.
This extension will provide additional access to jobs, healthcare, education, grocery and retail.
Merriam Town Center
Merriam Town Center’s offerings include many popular options, such as Cinemark Theater, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Home Depot.
From Merriam Town Center, connections can be made on 402 Johnson-Quivira to the RideKC routes 401 Metcalf-Plaza, , 403 Antioch-Olathe, 404 Metcalf-Downtown, 435 JOCO Downtown Midday, and 499 Micro Transit (Johnson County).
Located near Shawnee Drive and S. 47th St., Shawnee Plaza and the adjacent strip mall offer many popular tenants, such as CVS Pharmacy, Sun Fresh Market, Deep Roots restaurant and Amigos Grill and Cantina. The Turner area in Kansas City, Kan., is home to over 12,000 residents.
Micro Transit is demand responsive; a reservation must be made in advance to request a ride. A ride may be requested by using the TransLoc mobile app or online at ondemand.transloc.com.
