Are you interested in helping keep your community free of litter while also promoting your organization? In Spring 2023, RideKC launched Adopt-A-Stop.
Adopt-A-Stop is a new program to help reduce and prevent littering. Community organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals can all sign up to help the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority maintain a litter-free environment at bus stops.
The first business to join the Adopt-A-Stop program is Ruby Jean's Juicery. They have adopted the stop at 31st & Troost, near their location at 3000 Troost.
Members who adopt a stop will be responsible for collecting trash from the ground of their designated adoption area to preserve the stop’s aesthetic condition. Participants will not empty RideKC trash cans. Volunteers will dispose of the trash they have collected off site, such as through their business trash disposal. Members will report any graffiti or vandalism to the Adopt-A-Stop program manager. Members are asked to not clean the graffiti themselves. Lastly, participants agree to clean the adopted bus stop a minimum of once a week, or as needed to maintain the bus stop's aesthetic condition.
In exchange for this volunteer work, participants will receive a sign at the bus stop with the individual’s or organization's name recognizing the volunteer work. We will also recognize the efforts on KCATA’s social media. After one (1) year of commitment, participants will receive a signed adoption certificate!
