RideKC Streetcar

Running from the River Market on the north end to Union Station and Crown Center on the south, KC Streetcar connects all the downtown neighborhoods with 16 platform stops and 2 miles of track.

This is the first piece of a comprehensive and connected transit system with the goal of connecting Kansas City.

The Purpose and Need of the Main Street Extension is:

  • To improve mobility choices & accessibility
  • Integrate seamlessly with existing and future transit service
  • Support the development of underutilizes/vacant property, and support existing residential & commercial activity
  • Increase density and promote a broader mix of building uses
  • Be an efficient, reliable and safe transit service

The KC Streetcar Authority, along with Port KC and the KCATA, performed a study to assess general feasibility, potential, and merit for northern extension of KC Streetcar to connect to Berkley Riverfront Park. Beyond the KC Streetcar, the feasibility study looked at all transit options to connect downtown to the Riverfront including biking, walking and on-demand transit. The Kansas City Streetcar Authority, Port KC and KCATA serve as partners on this preliminary study.
