Unified Government Transit and KCATA Announce 7th & Minnesota Transit Center Groundbreaking

Kansas City, Mo. (Aug.6, 2025) -  The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Ks., in partnership with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), announce a groundbreaking at its 7th & Minnesota Transit Center at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2025.

This groundbreaking officially celebrates the kick-off of $1.64 million in transit corridor improvements along three major segments along 7th St.

  • North Segment: From Minnesota Ave. to Pacific Ave.
  • Central Segment: From Kansas Ave. to Cheyenne Ave.
  • South Segment along Rainbow: From Southwest Blvd. to West 43rd St.

The project includes:

  • Installation of five real-time arrival signs at the 7th & Minnesota Transit Center
  • One security camera at the transit center
  • 25 bus stop improvements
  • 10 bus shelters and other stop amenities
  • Approximately 1,300 linear feet of sidewalk improvements, including ADA improvements.

This transit center represents a modern, connected and more equitable future for our community where transportation works for everyone,” says Mayor Tyrone Garner.
