The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (“KCATA” or “the Authority”) is conducting market research to better understand the availability, structure, and commercial terms of services related to: 1) the supply of Renewable Natural Gas (“RNG”) to displace conventional natural gas dispensed at KCATA-owned compressed natural gas (“CNG”) fueling facilities; 2) the generation, management, and monetization of environmental credits — principally Renewable Identification Numbers (“RINs”) under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (“RFS”) program — on KCATA’s behalf; 3) optional preventive maintenance services for KCATA’s CNG fueling infrastructure; and 4) Potential future expansion of credit-generation services to other low- or zero-emission fuel sources, including electricity and hydrogen.
