Prospect MAX
MAXimum Transit
Prospect MAX is KCATA’s third Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route that runs along the 10-mile corridor of Prospect Avenue from Downtown Kansas City, Mo. to 75th Street. Prospect MAX launched Dec. 9, 2019. Building off the success of Main MAX and Troost MAX, Prospect MAX offers BRT amenities like frequent service, upgraded MAX stations and vehicles, traffic signal priority at stoplights and fewer stops for faster service. Level boarding at several high ridership stops will also help people get on and off the bus more easily and more quickly.
Prospect MAX stations have free WiFi, and there has been more than 40,000 feet of sidewalks built and repaired along the route, complete with curbs, ADA ramps, crosswalks, intersection upgrades, and traffic calming features. This investment, made possible by local and federal funding, has made this corridor safer and more inviting for pedestrians, transit customers, and bike and scooter riders.
MAX is RideKC’s bus rapid transit line (BRT) serves highly populated residential and commercial corridors in Kansas City, Mo. The MAX has specialized branding and messaging that sets it apart from other KCATA vehicles. MAX vehicles have a distinctively sleek design, while MAX stations are substantially larger than standard bus stops .
Overall, Prospect MAX has 48 MAX stations along the route and two transit centers that includes the Downtown East Village Transit Center and the 75th Street Transit Center.
