Service Notice | KC Streetcar Track Maintenance
RideKC Supporting KC Streetcar Service During Track Maintenance
Effective October 12–16, 2026
RideKC is helping keep Kansas City moving by supporting our regional transit partner, KC Streetcar, with temporary bus service and additional travel options during scheduled track maintenance.
From Monday, October 12, through Friday, October 16, RideKC will provide free Streetcar Link bus service between the Riverfront and Union Station while KC Streetcar crews complete essential track repairs along 5th Street between Delaware and Walnut streets in the River Market area.
While downtown streetcar service is temporarily suspended, riders can continue traveling through downtown using Streetcar Link buses or explore additional RideKC routes serving nearby destinations.
Full downtown streetcar service is expected to resume Friday, October 16, weather permitting.
What Riders Need to Know
RideKC Streetcar Link Bus Service
RideKC will operate three Streetcar Link buses to maintain transit connections along the downtown streetcar route.
- Service Dates: October 12–16, 2026
- Operating Hours: 5 a.m. to midnight
- Frequency: Approximately every 12–15 minutes
- Service Area: Riverfront to Union Station
- Fare: Free
- Boarding: Designated streetcar stops, except City Market
Streetcar service between Union Station and UMKC will continue operating as usual, with service approximately every 10 minutes.

For River Market and City Market Access
85 - Paseo

For Additional Downtown Connections
These routes may not serve every streetcar stop, but they provide additional ways to reach destinations throughout downtown.
Not sure which route works best for you? Visit use the trip planner, review route schedules and explore available connections.
Traveling to City Market? RideKC Has Options!
Although the City Market streetcar stop at 5th & Walnut will be temporarily closed, riders can still reach the River Market area using RideKC.
Several RideKC routes serve the nearby 3rd & Grand transit connection, including Main MAX and Routes 10, 55, 77, 85, 103 and 201.
Riders can also use the free Streetcar Link buses serving the River Market stops at 3rd & Grand, then walk to City Market.
Heading to City Market? Plan your trip and allow additional travel time during the maintenance period.
Transfers at Union Station
Riders traveling between downtown and destinations south of Union Station will need to transfer between RideKC Streetcar Link buses and KC Streetcar.
Traveling south toward UMKC: Board the streetcar at the Union Station northbound stop.
Traveling north toward the Riverfront: Board a Streetcar Link bus at the Union Station southbound stop.
Temporary signage will help riders identify the correct boarding locations.
River Market Boarding Changes
During the maintenance period, the City Market streetcar stop will be closed.
At the River Market northbound and southbound stops near 3rd Street and Grand Boulevard, riders will board Streetcar Link buses at the curb rather than from the existing streetcar platforms.
Signage will be posted to help riders locate the temporary boarding areas.
Plan Ahead and Stay Connected
RideKC and KC Streetcar are working together to maintain transit access and minimize disruptions while these important infrastructure improvements are completed.
Riders are encouraged to plan ahead, explore alternative routes and allow additional travel time.
