KCATA Service to Continue Without Planned September Reductions

The City of Kansas City, Missouri City Council unanimously approved the addition of approximately $8.3 million to the funding agreement with KCATA. This additional funding will cancel the layoffs and service reductions that had been planned to begin September 6, 2026.

Our team at KCATA remains committed to serving the Kansas City community. Riders will continue to have access to essential transportation for work, groceries, medical appointments, childcare, school, and other daily needs. We are grateful to the City Council, community leaders, partners, and advocates who worked together to secure this additional funding and protect transit service for our region.

With the revised agreement, funding for KCATA service is secured through April 2027. Our team will continue providing reliable service to the communities we serve while working toward long-term solutions for regional transit. KCATA remains positive about the future of public transportation in our region. In the spirit of regional collaboration, we look forward to continuing to work with leaders, partners, and communities to make transit accessible and available to all.

KCATA remains committed to moving Kansas City forward.
