Building a Better Regional Transit System

Today, July 1, marks the first day KCATA manages IndeBus, IndeAccess and IndeAccess+. The City of Independence and KCATA approved a new management agreement in June.

IndeBus routes, bus stops, drivers, vehicles and fares are not changing with this new agreement. KCATA will manage Independence’s contract with First Transit, and the same First Transit operators will continue to drive the same IndeBus routes. All fares and passes will remain the same.

While this is a management consolidation only, it will result in greater efficiencies and cost savings for the City of Independence. Independence maintains policy and budget decisions.

To plan a trip on IndeBus, just call the Regional Call Center at 816-221-0660. The Regional Call Center provides trip planning throughout the region from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
