About the changes

Beginning June 1, all applications to use RideKC Freedom will be processed according to guidelines established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This process is designed to determine eligibility based on how a person’s disability impacts their use of the bus system. The application asks for more information than the previous application and includes a section for your physician to complete. Completion of the application is vital to making eligibility decisions that match your individual transportation needs with the services that we provide. The eligibility period of 3 years remains unchanged. The benefits of this new process include:

  • Regional Paratransit services: The new eligibility process will allow you to ride on ADA paratransit service currently offered throughout the region.
  • Free Fare Bus Service: The new eligibility process will allow you to ride any RideKC bus for free anywhere in the region.
  • RideKC Freedom On-Demand: This new pilot program begins on May 1. RideKC Freedom On-Demand will allow paratransit users to use taxis for same-day trips.

In the meantime, should you have any questions please feel free to contact Ms. Lisa Womack at 816-346-0808 or lwomack@kcata.org
