RideKC, in partnership with the Kansas City Veterans Administration and the Veterans Community Project, is honoring veterans through a free fare program.
The program allows all area veterans to use RideKC fixed-route bus service for free with a RideKC Veterans Pass. Identification cards are available through Veterans Community Project, 8900 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64131, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Veterans will need to bring a dd214, VA card, or a driver's license with the veteran identifier to receive a RideKC Veterans Pass.
The RideKC Veterans pass is a photo ID, and is good until 2020. Veterans Passes will be swiped through the farebox like other RideKC passes. No other military veteran’s identification will be accepted on buses for free fare. Veterans must use the RideKC Veterans Pass to ride for free.
The three-year initiative which started in 2017 is sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Labor Unions/AFL-CIO.
