Beginning Monday, Sept. 30, the KC Streetcar will temporarily suspend service for approximately four weeks for construction. This is an exciting project milestone to connect the existing downtown streetcar starter line to the Main Street Extension. For more information about this work visit https://kcstreetcar.org/service/.
A dedicated "Streetcar Link" bus service will be provided during this work. This temporary bus service will not impact other RideKC routes.
WHY THE SERVICE SUSPENSION IS NECESSARY
- Removal of the existing crossover north of Pershing Road.
- Repair and replacement of expansion joints on the Main Street Viaduct/Bridge.
- Adjustments to the Overhead Catenary System (OCS).
- Finalization of the new Union Station Northbound platform and shelter.
RIDE KC “STREETCAR LINK” BUS SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED
- This is a supplemental RideKC route and will NOT be a redirected route.
- Most times, 3 buses will run the route. At peak times, there may be 4 buses.
- Buses are free to ride, will stop at designated streetcar stops, and operate with regular streetcar hours.
- The service frequency will be 12-15 minutes.
BUS STOPS
- Northbound and Southbound riders will utilize the same stop at Union Station. The pickup/drop off location will be located north of the Union Station Streetcar Stop and be marked with signage.
- Passenger boarding at the River Market North stop will board from the sidewalk on the north side and NOT from the streetcar stop. This will also be marked with signage.
