Buses Rerouted In Midtown For St. Patrick’s Day Parade

RideKC Main MAX, 31, 35, 39, 47 Buses Detour in Westport and Midtown

On Monday, March 17, RideKC will reroute buses in the Westport, Plaza and midtown areas for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will travel on Broadway from Linwood to 43rd St. Portions of Broadway north of Linwood, 33rd Street/Linwood and Mill Creek Parkway will be closed to stage floats and marching units. The reroutes will start as streets are closed a few hours before the parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and last until 3:30 p.m. Detours begin at 5 a.m. Buses will return to regular routes as the parade clears and the crowd disperses. 35 35th Street will detour in Westport after the parade.

Parade Setup, beginning at approx. 5 a.m. until approximately 8 a.m.

Main MAX and 47 Broadway: Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 31st and Broadway, go west on 31st, south on Southwest Trafficway, west on 38th, south on Summit, east on 39th, south on Broadway to resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 39th and Broadway, go west on 39th, north on Southwest Trafficway, eastst on 31st, and north on Broadway to the resume regular route.

31 31st Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to Gillham Road, south on Gillham Road, west on Linwood, north on Gillham Plaza, and east on 31st to resume the regular route.  Westbound buses will go south on Gillham Road, and layover at 31st and Gillham

Parade Route, detour from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Main MAX: Northbound buses will travel the regular route to 47th and Mill Creek Parkway, west on 47th, north on Madison continuing onto Southwest Trafficway, then continue north on Southwest Trafficway, north on Summit, east on 25th, north on West Pennway to resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 25th and West Pennway, west on 25th, south on Summit, then continue south on Southwest Trafficway, south on Belleview, east on Roanoke, east on 47th St. to Millcreek Parkway then south on Millcreek Parkway to resume the regular route.

31 31st Street: Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 31st & Gillham Road, go south on Gillham to lay over at Linwood and Gillham Road. From the layover at 31st & Oak, eastbound buses will continue east on Linwood, north on Holmes, and east on 31st to resume the regular route. There will not be service to Penn Valley Community College.

35 35th Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to 47th and Mill Creek Parkway, go east on 47th, north on Oak, continuing north on Warwick to resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 39th and Warwick, go south on Warwick, continue south on Oak, west on Cleaver II Blvd, south on Main, west on Ward Parkway, and North on Millcreek Parkway to layover.

35 35th Street, after the parade: Since large crowds will block Westport Road later in the day, westbound 35th Street buses will travel the regular route to 39th and Baltimore, go west on 39th, south on SW Traffciway, and west on Westport road to resume the regular route. Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to Westport Road and SW Trafficway, go north on SW Traffciway, and east on 39th to resume the regular route.

39 39th Street, East of Broadway: Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 39th & Warwick, then south on Warwick, west on 40th, and north on Walnut to lay over at 39th & Walnut. Eastbound buses will travel the regular route from the layover at 39th & Walnut.  
39 39th Street, West of Broadway:  Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to Southwest Trafficway, north on Southwest Trafficway, east on 38th, south on Pennsylvania to lay over. From the layover, buses will go west on 39th to resume the regular route to KU Med.

47 Broadway: Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 43rd & Broadway, go west on 43rd, north on Madison merging onto Southwest Trafficway and Summit, east on 25th, and north on W. Pennway to resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the regular route to 25th & W. Pennway, go west on 25th, and south on Summit merging onto Southwest Trafficway, then merge south onto Belleview, east on Roanoke,east on 43rd, and south on Broadway to resume the regular route.
