Buses Rerouted In Midtown For St. Patrick’s Day Parade

RideKC 31, 35, 39 Buses Detour in Westport and Midtown

On Tuesday, March 17, RideKC will reroute buses in the Westport, Plaza and midtown areas for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will travel on Broadway from Linwood to 43rd St. Portions of Broadway north of Linwood, 33rd Street/Linwood and Mill Creek Parkway will be closed to stage floats and marching units. The reroutes will start as streets are closed a few hours before the parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and last until 3:30 p.m. Detours begin at 5 a.m. for the 31 31st Street, and 8 a.m. for all other buses. Buses will return to regular routes as the parade clears and the crowd disperses. 35 35th Street will detour in Westport after the parade.

Parade Setup, beginning at approx. 5 a.m. until approximately 8 a.m.

31 31st Street: Westtbound buses will travel the regular route to Gillham Road, south on Gillham Road, west on Linwood, north on Main, and east on 31st to layover at 31st and Main. route.  

Eastbound buses will travel the regular route. There will not be service to Penn Valley Community College.

Parade Route, detour from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

31 31st Street: Westtbound buses will travel the regular route to Gillham Road, south on Gillham Road, west on Linwood, north on Main, and east on 31st to layover at 31st and Main. route.  

Eastbound buses will travel the regular route. There will not be service to Penn Valley Community College.

35 35th Street: Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to 47th and Mill Creek Parkway, go east on 47th, north on Oak, continuing north on Warwick, and east on Armour to resume the regular route.

Westbound buses will travel the regular route to Armour and Warwick, go south on Warwick, continue south on Oak, west on Cleaver II Blvd, and south on Main to layover.

35 35th Street, after the parade: Since large crowds will block Westport Road later in the day, westbound 35th Street buses will travel the regular route to 39th and Broadway, go west on 39th, south on SW Traffciway, east on 43rd, and south on Broadway to resume the regular route.

Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to 43rd and Broadway, go west on 43rd, north on SW Traffciway, east on 39th, and north on Broadway to resume the regular route.

39 39th Street, East of Broadway: Westbound buses will travel the regular route to 39th & Warwick, then south on Warwick, west on 40th, and north on Walnut to lay over at 39th & Walnut.

Eastbound buses will travel the regular route from the layover at 39th & Walnut.  

39 39th Street, West of Broadway:  Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to Southwest Trafficway, go north on Southwest Trafficway, east on 38th, south on Pennsylvania to lay over.

From the layover, buses will go west on 39th to resume the regular route to KU Med.
