Transit service to new Amazon facility starts July 30

RideKC will open another door to opportunity when it launches a route providing service to the new Amazon fulfillment center in Wyandotte County.

The 114 Amazon Link will offer weekday and weekend service to the fulfillment center, which will employ more than 1,000 people and ship smaller customer items such as books, electronics and toys.

Starting July 30, the new route will run on weekdays from the transit center at 47th and State in Kansas City, Kan. to the Amazon shipping center near Interstate 70 and Turner Diagonal. It will make a stop at Kansas City, Kan. Community College along the way.

The new route was developed in collaboration with and funding from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kan.

With connections to other bus routes at the 47th and State transit center, Amazon is easily accessible from throughout Wyandotte County and the rest of the Kansas City region.

“Our partnership with the Unified Government will give riders great access to new jobs in our region,” said Chuck Ferguson, chief planning officer for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.

“The new route to Amazon is direct, quick and convenient for riders,” Ferguson said. “This is just one more way RideKC connects people to economic opportunity.”

The new route will make 11 eastbound and westbound trips on weekdays.  Westbound service starts at 5 a.m. with the last trip at 7 p.m. The first eastbound trip leaves at Amazon at 5:15 a.m. The last eastbound trip is at 7:15 p.m.

 On the weekends, service will start at 10th and Main in downtown Kansas City, Mo., stop at the transit center at 47th and State Avenue before proceeding directly to Amazon.

 The 114 will make six eastbound and westbound trips on the weekend. Westbound service starts at 4:49 a.m. with last trip at 6:20 p.m. Eastbound service starts at 5:16 a.m. with the last trip at 6:47 p.m.
