St. Louis Transit CEO Visits KC

KCATA was honored to have a visitor from across the state of Missouri this week. On Friday, we welcomed John Nations to Kansas City and to the KCATA. Nations is the President and CEO of Bi-State Development of the Missouri-Illinois District, which provides Metro Transit service in St. Louis.

Nations, KCATA President and CEO Robbie Makinen, and Federal Transit Administration Region 7 Administrator Mokhtee Ahmad gathered to discuss their shared interest in connecting people to opportunities. Both KCATA and Bi-State manage transit across city, county, and state lines in their respective metropolitan areas.

“This is monumental; this is the first time we’ve welcomed the CEO of Bi-State to Kansas City,” said Makinen. “We have shared interests in the State of Missouri, and as Midwest transit agencies.”

After an energetic discussion of transit operations, funding, and upcoming developments, Nations toured the KCATA facility, including the training center and compressed natural gas fueling station. While in Kansas City he also visited the new KC Streetcar facility in the River Market area.
