Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, the City of Independence plans to eliminate several RideKC routes due to budget limitations. Changes to RideKC Freedom (paratransit) fares in Independence will also occur effective Jan. 1.

Due to a technical issue, real time bus tracking is not currently available in Google Maps. The KCATA is working to resolve the issue, and updates will be provided as they become available.

Beginning Monday, November 4, 2024, the bus stops along Marty Street that serve the Overland Park Farmers' Market will be indefinitely closed and relocated.

Beginning Sunday, October 6, the Main MAX, 85 Paseo, 201 North Oak, 238 Meadowbrook, and 106 Quindaro-Amazon will once again service 3rd and Grand.

Beginning Sunday, October 6, some RideKC Buses will have minor schedule changes to improve performance, and some routes will have more timed connections.

Beginning July 7,  timed connections for more convenient transfers are expanding on these routes: Prospect MAX and 31 31st Street; 29 Blue Ridge Limited and 101 State Ave.; and 39 39th Street and 85 Paseo.

Beginning July 7, the 99 South KC Flex, 297 Tiffany Springs Flex, and the 399 Raytown Flex will be replaced by IRIS on-demand service.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and the City of Independence have some exciting news for our paratransit customers.  We are pleased to announce that we will be transitioning to a new reservations, scheduling and dispatch software platform for KCATA’s RideKC Freedom and RideKC Freedom On-Demand. This transition will allow us to improve our customer service. The anticipated go-live date is July 30, 2024.

The City of Raytown has elected to end fixed-route transit service and replace the Flex service with IRIS on-demand within the city on July 7, 2024. RideKC Routes 28 Blue Ridge, 29 Blue Ridge Limited, 63 63rd Street and 399 Raytown Flex will no longer stop in Raytown. 399 Raytown Flex is being eliminated, while the other three will continue to serve Kansas City.
