Ozone Alert Program Starting

Date:May 30, 2019
Effective:May 31, 2019

Special 75¢ Fare Offered on Ozone Alert Days

During the summer, Kansas City is more vulnerable to unhealthy ozone pollution. This pollution is largely caused when emissions from motor vehicles, lawn mowers, power plants and industry react with heat and sunlight.

When Ozone Alerts are most likely to happen, June 1 through September 30, one-way bus fare will be only 75¢ for all customers on designated Ozone Alert days. The special Ozone Alert fare includes a transfer upon request and is also available on all RideKC bus service. The fare is not valid on the 510 K-10 Connector, but is valid for travel on other express routes.

The Day Pass, purchased at the farebox, remains $3. Additionally, the special Ozone Alert fare is not available in the RideKC app. To take advantage of the 75¢ Ozone Alert fare on Ozone Alert days, customers must pay cash.
