Kansas City Area Transportation Authority

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is the bi-state regional transportation authority focused on improving the overall transit experience for customers throughout the metropolitan area. The creation of the Regional Transit Coordinating Council is one of the recent milestones in positioning the organization to continue fulfilling the mission well into the future. Subsequent initiatives that have been generated include creation of the regional transit brand RideKC, regional fare strategy, expanding and improving regional paratransit and more coordinated transit funding strategies

KCATA is best known for its 65 Metro bus routes and Main St. MAX and Troost MAX Bus Rapid Transit service. It is also responsible for paratransit service for the elderly and persons with disabilities and vanpool service.
