Riders Can Now Pay With RideKC Mobile App

Starting this week, RideKC is giving riders the convenience of paying their fares with a new mobile app that can be easily downloaded on their smartphones. This is part of a pilot program for the next six months to evaluate the desirability of mobile payment options.

The new RideKC app can be downloaded either on an Apple or Android phone. iPhone users can download the RideKC app at the Apple App store. Android users can download it on their device at the Google Play Store.

The pilot program will make RideKC transit services more accessible in many ways. The app lets riders pay their fares without worrying about cash or exact change. Nothing special is needed. Just pay using the app and show your valid fare on your smartphone to the driver.

The RideKC app also gives riders the added benefit of planning their trip and tracking their bus along the route. You also need to know these important facts about the new app:

  • Mobile payment is accepted on all RideKC bus routes throughout the region.
  • Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted.
  • All passes can be purchase on the app (except 10-ride passes and the reduced fare, single-ride pass for the 550 Lee’s Summit Express).
  • Activate your pass right before you board and show it to the driver.
  • Single rides are good for two hours. No transfers required.
  • Paper passes are not transferrable to the mobile app.
  • Student/employer passes are not currently supported by the app. Riders need to use existing passes.
