Watch Progress of Prospect MAX Construction

Construction is underway for two important facilities on the future Prospect MAX line, and you have a bird's eye view. The East Village Transit Center and the 75th & Prospect Transit Center are part of the $55.8 million project that will bring enhanced transit service along Kansas City’s 10-mile Prospect Avenue from downtown to 75th Street.

East Village Transit Center

Construction began in November 2018 at the East Village Transit Center at 12th and Charlotte streets, near downtown Kansas City, Mo. The location will feature an indoor passenger lobby, ticket-vending machines, level boarding, bike parking, bike share and kiosks with real-time arrival information.

75th & Prospect Transit Center

Construction began in November 2018 at the transit center at 75th Street & Prospect Avenue. The transit center will be located just north of Alphapointe, the only comprehensive rehabilitation and education center for the blind and visually impaired in the state of Missouri. When complete, it will offer a ticket-vending machine, technologies to help the visually impaired or blind navigate the transit center, level boarding, a park and ride, bike parking and kiosks with real-time arrival information.

An app will help people get around the area by speaking step-by-step navigation instructions so visually impaired users can safely navigate to a bus stop or a pedestrian crossing. The app will include real-time arrival and route information, and is scheduled to be developed and implemented in 2019. As funding allows, the system will be extended throughout the Prospect corridor and downtown.

The 75th & Prospect transit center is expected to be open by the end of 2019.
